Fabric Button Earrings

You may or may not know this, but I have a lot of fabric laying around. Way too much, but I can't help it. There are just so many beautiful fabrics out there! And learning to make No Sew Hair Bow, most likely didn't help any! But, in my defense, I only buy from Hobby Lobby and JoAnns, but only when it is on sale. And unless it's for something specific, I only buy a maximum of 1 yard. Lately I've only been buying 1/4 of a yard, so it's only a couple bucks here and there.. So it's (kind of) under control. I'm always looking for other projects to use some of this fabric on. I found what I was looking for on Crafts After College. And made my way to Hobby Lobby the next day. And honestly you guys, I was shocked at how easy these are to make!

Supplies needed:

- Cover Button Kit (the size I bought was 5/8)

- Hot Glue Gun

- Earring Backs

- Scissors (or pliers)

- Fabric 

(I used left over scraps, because you don't need much for this project)

1. Cut the fabric circles.

Now, the tutorial I learned from, used refill kits. The refills came with a "button pattern". Mine did not, so I improvised. I used a water bottle lid. I traced around it, and then cut a little bit larger than that. 

2. Use scissors (or pliers) to remove the loop from the back of the button.

3. Place fabric in the button maker. Be sure to put the "pretty side" facing down. 

4. Push the button down into the button maker.

5. Fold the fabric in.

6. Place back of button on top.

7. Use the blue piece to push the button back down.

This is probably the hardest part, just because you really have to push hard on the blue piece to make it fit securely.

8. Take the button out.

The white piece is made of rubber, so it wasn't very difficult to get the button out, thank goodness.

9. Glue the earring backs onto the button.

I wanted backs with a larger circumference so it would cover more surface of the back of the earring, but Hobby Lobby only had small ones. They work just as well, I just think the wider backs would look better, so I'll probably end up buying some from Etsy.

10. You're done! Yay :) 

I cleaned the back of my earrings with alcohol and a cotton swap just because I wanted to make sure they were clean.

But I probably would have been just fine. 

Obviously, I should have been a little more careful with matching up the patterns on the middle pair, and next time I will! I'm going to buy refills, and make more of these. I always have such a hard time finding earrings that I like, now I can do whatever I want! And, talk about easy/cost effective presents, these are perfect! 

Wonderful Weekends:Sleepover Edition

Next weekend is Noah's birthday, but we won't be here so we celebrated early. I love cupcake cakes!

We put balloons in his new room at our house to surprise him :) 

We also got him some games and controller so him and the Husband would have something to do when he is here :) 

Kayla decided to use the tissue paper from his present to make a hat! She's a creative one ;)

The controller we got Noah is blue, and smaller than the usual ones. Perfect for little hands!

Did someone say sleepover? Candy, soda, and pizza... Perfect right? :)

Then we ate cupcakes! And we kind of knew what would happen if we put 8 candles on one tiny cupcake, but it was worth it! We did get him a new cupcake though ;)

And apparently this is how we eat the new cupcake... Boys will be boys. 

Later we watched Parent Trap.. and Noah decided to try a lemon flavored candy. 

And there are some pure emotion results. I felt bad taking pictures.. but he loved it :P 

The boys played video games.. and we did crafts. Because boys will be boys and girls will be girls!

We had a lot of fun with The Husband's little brother and sister! More sleepovers will definitely happen :)

Making Progress!

As you may, or may not know, Saturday we moved into the new house that we are leasing! It really wasn't all that fun, but moving isn't supposed to be fun is it? It's fun to be in a new place, once everything is unpacked and put away! We are really working on that part, and we're slowly but surely making progress! Especially because we kind of have a time limit. Tanner's little brother and sister are coming here to sleepover next weekend, and the weekend after that we're going out of town. Separately. To two different locations. But that's a story for another day.

Our first priority, well after putting our bed back together of course, was getting all of the boxes out of the guest room, and the office. And let me tell you, it wasn't easy. Boxes and plastic tubs were EVERYWHERE. But somehow we did it.

Well almost. Obviously the office hasn't been completely cleared out, but we did manage to make enough progress to set the computer up, and put most things away. 

(And don't you just love how The Husband plays along when I want to take a picture? I think he's used to it now!)

And I got everything put away into my book shelf, that helped me feel a little less crowded in the office :P

I spray painted name tag stickers with chalkboard paint and then wrote with a paint pen so I knew what was inside the plastic containers without having to open them and look inside. 

And the guest room... well, it's all cleared out. It's kind of sad looking isn't it? We're working on it. But it was most important to get their beds set up and taken care of, so they'd have somewhere to sleep.

This is the bedding we got his little sister, and I am obsessed. If the husband didn't think it was too "girly" I might have gotten some for myself. I just love the colors and the leaves!

I also made some moving announcments! They were really simple! I found them here. I just had to print them out, and glue them onto cardboard. I just used a box we used to move with! And of course, that's not our real address, and you need a stamp, but other than that, I can just put them in the mail and send them like a postcard! :)

Paint Sample Coasters

I love making coasters! It's so much fun, and oh so easy. There are SO many different possibilities for making coasters. And when I came across these from The Crafty CPA, I had to try them!

They aren't perfect, but I think they turned out pretty cute :) I don't think you can ever have too many coasters! For your own use, and they are great housewarming gifts!

All About Fall

1. What is your favorite Fall activity?

Going to Football games for sure! My dad has season tickets, and we go to as many games as we can :) 

In 2010, we went to a game on Halloween, and we came up with some creative costumes... We went as Hugs and Kisses. Ya know, Xs and Os? Yep. hahah. We think we're so clever ;) 

2. Do you follow a football team? if so which one and why?

You may not know this about me, but I love football. Obsessed might be a better word. I follow two teams. Both for different reasons. One: the Arizona Cardinals of course. Going to Cardinals games with my Dad got my love for football going. They will always be my number one! Two: The Baltimore Ravens. It might seem kind of random, and really it is. But here's why. 

That, my friends, is Anquan Boldin and I in 2008. Meeting him is still one of the best moments in my life. He is one of the greatest people, EVER. My Dad took my friend Brooke and I to a Diamondbacks baseball game, and I saw him walk in. I was excited but figured he'd leave as soon as he could after the game. But I was wrong. He stayed for who knows how long after the game to take pictures and sign autographs. And his son, so cute, the little guy loved the attention, as you can see ;) The people working at the stadium offered to escort Anquan and his son out, but he wasn't having any of it. He took pictures with all of us, and I will forever be grateful. He was one of my favorite players before this event, but after and forever more, he will be my favorite. When he was traded to the Ravens, I followed him. And watching all their games, I fell in love with the Ravens. So now I have two football loves. 

3. What is something fun about Fall in your area?

Obviously, football games. And I don't really know of any other activities in Arizona.. I'm definitely going to look into that! I do know there are some pumpkin festivals, maybe we'll check one of those out this year :) 

4. Fav Fall outfit staples?

It doesn't get all that cold here in Arizona during the Fall season, but scarves are definitely one my favorite staples. A sweater is another fun one. 

5. Thing you are looking forward to most about this coming Fall season?

The cooler weather... I'm telling you, this heat is not something you get used to. It sucks the energy out of you like nothing else does. And, our first wedding anniversary is in October. So I'm pretty excited about that.

6. Favorite Fall holiday? Traditions?

I would have to say Thanksgiving. Umm mashed potatoes anyone? As far as Thanksgiving traditions, I don't really have any. My parents divorced when I was really little, so I was back and forth over the holidays. No matter what though, we always try to celebrate Thanksgiving with family somewhere. Last year we were in Louisiana, this year we'll be in Nevada with my mom.
