I'm The Kinda Girl...

Bridgit Mendler anybody?

I'm the kinda girl who...
believes in saving our planet.
has a small obsession with dandelions.
listens to everything from Taylor Swift to Tupac.
loves her husband more than anything.
is the reliable friend, the shoulder to cry on.
watches crime shows like NCIS and Castle.
believes dolphins do not belong in captivity.
recently discovered a love for baking.
still watches wedding shows like Say Yes to the Dress.
would probably sell my soul for a back tickle.
has a great relationship with both parents.
loves the ocean, but is terrified to get in it.
is grateful for the people in her life.
believes a cupcake for breakfast is totally reasonable.
keeps watching Gilmore Girls even though I've seen every episode at least 3 times.
will not just tell you what you want to hear.
always tries to be positive and happy.

The Facts of Me!

- I am a total Daddy's girl.
- I don't wear heels, ever. Not even on my wedding day. I mean I have before, but I'd say it's been a good 2 years since I've worn any :p If you are comfortable in heels, I say you go girl! But I see these girls who can't walk in them and I just have to wonder why.. why go through that? They make so many cute flats now!
- You know how most girls dream of their wedding day from when they're really young? Yeah, not me. I actually never wanted to get married. Obviously, until I met the Husband. Then I wanted that life with him. Kids and all. Funny how things change right?
- I'm a really picky eater... It's actually a little embarrassing, and people make fun of me for it, but I am who I am :p
- When I was younger, I wanted to be a dolphin trainer. And I'm so glad I never went down that path, dolphins belong in the ocean, not in front of us for entertainment. For more on that, feel free to click here.
- I get major anxiety when emailing or texting someone back, usually even people I've been friends with for awhile. I honestly don't know why, but I do. and if I've tweeted you or emailed you back, chances are I had the Husband read it before I sent it. I'm working on it, blogging has actually really helped to push me towards it, and it's getting better.. sometimes.
- I have a slight love affair with dandelions.
- I love my name. Of course I got made fun of in school, and always got called a "he", until I'd say oh, that's me haha. But I really do love it, and would never change it.
- In case you're wondering, I get my name from the movie Point Break!
starshollow.tumblr.com
- I'm obsessed with Gilmore Girls and have watched the entire series, from start to finish, more than 3 times. I have the box-set with all the seasons. I'll tell ya, sometimes I'm even tempted to want a daughter someday, just so I can make her watch it! ;)
- We plan on adopting kids.. in about 8-10 years. We want to be completely on our feet financially and ready to go. We also plan on not raising them here in Arizona! We were thinking Colorado, now I think we're leaning toward Boise, Idaho...
- I could be an only, youngest, oldest, middle child, it all just depends on how you look at it. Between my mom and dad, I'm an only. On my mom's side, I have a younger sister and stepbrother, making me the oldest. On my dad's side, I have an older brother and sister, making me the youngest. And overall, I am the middle child. Confusing? Kind of.
- I'm way more comfortable just being one of the guys.. I tend to think like a guy, and I blame me being so close with my dad for that one :p
- I love my husband more than anything in the world.. Even though we're young, we've been through a lot together. Everything that should've torn us completely apart, but we made it. And our marriage is so much stronger because of it. It's also given us the faith in each other to know if we could get through all of that, we can get through anything. And we'll always be able to say we were high school sweethearts... ;)

First Things First: Week 1

Today I'm supporting one of my favorite blog friends, Hallie from Life: Oceanside, and her new link-up!
It's definitely going to be a fun one! :) And it gives us all a chance to get to know each other a little better. So make sure you check it out, and link-up!

What was your first job?
I worked at a rec center as a referee. I was 14 and it was super exciting ;) I reffed volleyball games and soccer games. I also had a front row seat to how ugly parents can get. And it starts young you guys, the first time I ever got yelled at was when I was reffing a soccer game. The age of the kids? Like 4 and 5. At that age, all they know how to do is go for the ball, so they end up in a big circle around the ball. When it goes out of bounds, it really is a complete tossup as to which team touched it last. And parents would get MAD when they thought it should have been on the other team. It was insane, but it did teach me a few things about how not to act when I have children playing sports ;)
First car?
It was a gold silver 2000 Nissan Maxima :) It really was silver, but I promise you, this car changed colors! And the first time I got it was at a party at my Grandma's house because the car was kept in their garage so I wouldn't see it. I swear, it was gold.. I told everyone it was gold. The next day when I came outside, it was totally silver. And it said silver on the title, so that's what it was supposed to be. But ask anyone that saw that car, the only reason they knew it was mine was because of the Cardinals sticker I had on the back. It always looked to be a different color depending on where you were standing and what the lighting was like. I got in my first fender bender in that car, and it was with me for about 3 years. Then it started majorly breaking down last year, and I sold it to a guy at the car dealership for $500. Him and his friends were going to fix it up (obviously for WAY cheaper because they knew how to do all the work) and give to a friend of their's that was having a baby and couldn't afford a new car. So, it all really worked out nicely :)
First date?
I honestly don't even know what I would call my first date. A lot of the guys I dated in high school were friends first, and so official first dates, I really don't remember. Is that bad? :/
How about my last first date? Well I had just gotten home from a trip to Salt Lake City to see my mom. Still in "airport" clothes, jeans and a sweatshirt, with my hair in a ponytail. The Husband picked me up and we went to the movies to see Where the Wild Things Are. We were automatically so comfortable with each other, and it was great :) I also got my last first kiss that night too! ;) We graduated high school together, he moved in, we got engaged, and now we've been happily married for over a year. I'd say it worked out pretty well ;) Love you hubbs!

Me, Myself, and I: December.. I'm Co-Hosting!

I've been participatin in the Me, Myself, and I link-up for the past few months, but this month is a little bit different! I actually get to co-host! I get to do this because I submitted a few questions, and one of my questions were chosen! I was just a little bit excited when I got the email informing me ;) My question is #5, and if you haven't joined this link-up before, I highly recommend it, it's a fun one! :)

1. What was your favorite gift given to you as a child?
I had these plastic horses... A LOT of them. They weren't tiny pocket size ones, but they weren't "Barbie" size either.. somewhere in between :p I'm sure my mom has a picture somewhere... They were a lot of fun :)

2. Christmas is almost here, what is that one Christmas song you could listen to on repeat?
There are two... The Glee version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and "Winter Wonderland" :)

3. What are a few of the items on your Christmas list this year?
There really wasn't a lot that I wanted this year.. Just anything I could get to benefit Sea Shepherd, so the hints towards The Husband, led him in that direction ;)

4. Do you and your family have any special holiday traditions? Explain.
Not exactly, when you have divorced parents, it's usually pretty hard to have "traditions" per say,  but don't get me wrong, I highly enjoyed wherever I was on Christmas :)
Now though, being married, we're trying to start our own traditions.. We don't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. We've also decided to keep our gifts smaller, and not spend so much on each other.. There's just no reason to :p It's been hard to get traditions just because we have so many sides of the family to see, but one day when we have kids, I think that's when we'll really get started on our traditions :)
Yes.. we really call each other that :p

5. Which do you prefer: wrapping paper or gift bags? Why?
Definitely gift bags, they are so much easier! This year, however, I wrapped way more presents, just because they're easier to ship that way, rather than trying to fit bags into a box :p
It really felt like a post office around our house for awhile!
One of the worst parts about living so far away from everyone :p

October Me, Myself, & I

1. What is your favorite season? Explain.
Christmas season. I know it's not technically a season, but I love Christmas. I love everything about it. And one day when I have money and kids, I plan on going all out for Christmas. It's a magical time of year, and in the future I'll have white Christmases again.

2. Talk about a moment that changed your life?
My first date with The Husband. I know that's cheesy and cliche but it's true. I don't think I believe in love at first sight, but I do believe in what I felt on our first date. I was so comfortable with him, and besides my dad, he probably is the only other person I've been completely myself with. I also never wanted to get married or have kids before The Husband came along. Obviously I am married now, and one day we'll adopt kiddos and I'll be a mommy :)
3. If you could be any Crayola crayon color, what would you be and why?
Tropical Violet. Obviously because I love purple, and you can never go wrong with tropical ;)
4. Describe yourself as a superhero: Superpower? Name? Sidekick?
My superpower would be to communicate with sea animals, and maybe then I would feel okay getting into the ocean ;) I would also be able to tell dolphins to swim away from harm :) As far as my name, I have no idea.. Let me know if you've got any ideas :P My sidekick would be my Husband ;) His superpower would be to cover his entire body with adamantium. (some kind of super strong metal) and his name would be Bullet Proof. Umm apparently he's been thinking about this for awhile :P
5. If you had all the money in the world and could only shop at 3 stores, where would you shop?
Besides a grocery store right? ;) I would say Hobby Lobby, Nordstroms, and Target. What else does a girl need? :P

Sunday Social: 9/23

1. What is something you have wanted to do but are afraid of?
source: dosomething.org
You may or may not know, but I am totally afraid of the ocean. I did complete #23 on bucket list, which was to jump into the ocean. I really don't know if I'll ever get past this fear. But I'm okay with that. By the way, that's Hayden Panettiere swimming with dolphins... Free diving actually. In the wild, which is where dolphins should be. Just thought I'd throw that out there. For more on that, click here

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself working and saving money. With a few vacations in between :) I'd like to stay at home with our future children, so I will be working my butt off to get money in the bank so when that time comes, we will feel financially stable. That's the goal anyway!

3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2012?
Exactly one month from yesterday, we'll be celebrating our one year. It's been the best year of our life so far.. I love you Husband :)

4. What are your hopes for your blog?
I really hope to meet and interact with more people. I've met such great people so far :)

5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?
Actually no, there are a lot of things I love about Arizona. As far as great schools though? Not so much. I also don't think I want to deal with these summers my whole life either. Once we are ready to adopt kiddos, we'll figure out more of where we think we'd like to go :)

6. What is your morning routine?
Well, since I am still between graduating college and finding a job, I am on full housewife alert at the moment :P My morning routine usually consists of waking up, reading new blog posts while The Husband gets ready, and getting him off to work. :)

All About Fall

1. What is your favorite Fall activity?
Going to Football games for sure! My dad has season tickets, and we go to as many games as we can :)
In 2010, we went to a game on Halloween, and we came up with some creative costumes... We went as Hugs and Kisses. Ya know, Xs and Os? Yep. hahah. We think we're so clever ;)

2. Do you follow a football team? if so which one and why?
You may not know this about me, but I love football. Obsessed might be a better word. I follow two teams. Both for different reasons. One: the Arizona Cardinals of course. Going to Cardinals games with my Dad got my love for football going. They will always be my number one! Two: The Baltimore Ravens. It might seem kind of random, and really it is. But here's why.
That, my friends, is Anquan Boldin and I in 2008. Meeting him is still one of the best moments in my life. He is one of the greatest people, EVER. My Dad took my friend Brooke and I to a Diamondbacks baseball game, and I saw him walk in. I was excited but figured he'd leave as soon as he could after the game. But I was wrong. He stayed for who knows how long after the game to take pictures and sign autographs. And his son, so cute, the little guy loved the attention, as you can see ;) The people working at the stadium offered to escort Anquan and his son out, but he wasn't having any of it. He took pictures with all of us, and I will forever be grateful. He was one of my favorite players before this event, but after and forever more, he will be my favorite. When he was traded to the Ravens, I followed him. And watching all their games, I fell in love with the Ravens. So now I have two football loves.
3. What is something fun about Fall in your area?
Obviously, football games. And I don't really know of any other activities in Arizona.. I'm definitely going to look into that! I do know there are some pumpkin festivals, maybe we'll check one of those out this year :)
4. Fav Fall outfit staples?
It doesn't get all that cold here in Arizona during the Fall season, but scarves are definitely one my favorite staples. A sweater is another fun one.
5. Thing you are looking forward to most about this coming Fall season?
The cooler weather... I'm telling you, this heat is not something you get used to. It sucks the energy out of you like nothing else does. And, our first wedding anniversary is in October. So I'm pretty excited about that.
6. Favorite Fall holiday? Traditions?
I would have to say Thanksgiving. Umm mashed potatoes anyone? As far as Thanksgiving traditions, I don't really have any. My parents divorced when I was really little, so I was back and forth over the holidays. No matter what though, we always try to celebrate Thanksgiving with family somewhere. Last year we were in Louisiana, this year we'll be in Nevada with my mom.

Things You May Not Know About Me

This is my life right now, and only a tiny piece of it. I am excited to move into a new house.. But the process of actually moving to that house, is definitely not at the top of my favorite things to do list. However, it must be done, so that's where my mind is right now. I thought it would be fun to do a little get to know me post so here it goes :)

15 Things You Probably Don't Know About Me
1. I have a weird obsession with office supplies. Whenever I get any new kind of office/art supplies, I always take them out of the package and try everything out. Especially if it's new markers :)
2. I'm an organized messy person.  My room is messy, but things like my closet are color coordinated.  My school binders are extremely organized. I don't know why there's a disconnect there, but there is.
3. I still like to color. Yep, like in a coloring book.  I don't as much as I used to, but there's something kind of relaxing about it.
4. I'm addicted to Diet Coke. It's something I'm trying to work on.
5. I'm a very patient person, but not when it comes to waiting in line. Especially if there are 10 people in line, one register open, and all the employees are just standing around. I usually just put my stuff down and leave.
6. I really don't like eating outside. I hate bugs. And I like to eat my food, and drink my beverage without worrying about whether or not a bug has been all over it.
7. I'm a very picky eater. I eat my burgers plain, just cheese, meat, and bun. My pizza? Just cheese. Teriyaki sauce and marinara sauce: the only sauces/dressings I like. I don't eat Pork, or Seafood.
8. I am very terrified of fish. Yep, fish. Probably why I don't eat them. They just creep me out. It's definitely a contributing factor to my fear of large bodies of water.
9. Licorice is my all time favorite candy. It's just delicious :)
10. I wake up between 5:30 and 6 every morning. Not by choice, I might add. My body just has a natural alarm I guess. And going to sleep later doesn't help either. I could fall asleep at 3 am and still wake up at 6. And yes, it's extremely annoying.
11. You can always tell how busy I am based on my nails. I always re-paint them as soon as there's a chip, unless I'm really busy. OCD? Maybe a little.
12. I used to play volleyball when I was younger, and never used my knee pads. They were uncomfortable, and slowed me down. But my knees didn't exactly enjoy my choice.
13. I wear glasses. Well, I should wear glasses. I have to at night, the lights don't like me. I should wear them all the time though. I think my eyesight is getting worse, so I'm trying to wear them more. I am forgetful in that department.
14. I can't draw/sketch to save my life. I am lucky I have the Husband.
15. I've never broken a bone, *knock on wood*, so I'm probably due for one. This is why I'm pretty careful about certain things I do. I'm not exactly a huge risk taker.

7.17.2012

Me, Myself, & I!

1. What is your biggest phobia?
Jeez, where do I start? I'm terrified of bugs and spiders. But other than that, my biggest fear is definitely the ocean. (Read more on that at the bottom of this post) Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the ocean, being in a boat/ship doesn't bother me at all, and I do believe in saving it, but I don't like to go in it.

2. If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be and why?
I would have to say our wedding day. I love my hubbs :)

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
I don't know if I could be the same age forever, I think every year is something special. I might like to skip a few right now.. But one day I'll look back and be thankful for these years, so I'll keep them!

4. Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?
I don't really get mistaken for anyone... Sorry to disappoint!  But, if you'd like to know where my name came from, it's from the movie Point Break. There's a lady surfer named Tyler, and that's what inspired my parents! And yes I still get weird looks from people, but I love my name!

5. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
Little Moments - Brad Paisley
When I Look At You - Miley Cyrus
Teenage Dream - Katy Perry

What can I say, I'm in Love :)
