... Even if they are the not so fun ones!
Yesterday, as we were driving home on the freeway after work, we heard a bit of a *thud* and then heard the air come out of the tire.. So we got off the very next exit and were able to get in the right turn lane of the off ramp. We get out of the car.. and this is what we see:
I also called my Dad just to let him know what was going on, and I mean, how do you even explain that thing?! It's not flat, we didn't blow a tire, it isn't shredded, we kind of just.. popped it and it separated from itself!
So what is the milestone you might ask? Our first time needing roadside assistance together! Obviously I wasn't exactly excited, but honestly, it didn't put me in a bad mood either. I have Triple A with my dad, but since our car is pretty new, we had their roadside assistance under our warranty, so that's who we called.
Now if you really knew me, you'd know I get anxiety sometimes, but I get weird anxiety. For example, running late, public restrooms, and big crowds bother me. What doesn't bother me? Big crowds at places like sporting events, and incidents like this. We were fine, and our only inconvenience was waiting an hour for assistance, paying for our new tire, and The Husband having to take a couple hours off work tomorrow to go get the new tire put on. What did we do during that hour? Stood a good distance away from the car and talked about who knows what, and laughed a lot. That's the great thing about carpooling with your spouse, and we make each other laugh. Neither of us was anxious, or stressed. It was all in good fun.
I will say though, The Husband was going to take yesterday off, and I told him to do it next week, so I would've been by myself, and then maybe it would've been more nerve wracking.
What added to our non-stress level? The guy from roadside assistance. He had us CRACKING up.. Upon seeing our tire he says, "Oh, so you just need a little bit of air put in, right?" I am sure he deals with thee grumpiest, and stressed out people all the time, so I hope he appreciated that we had a sense of humor about it :p I also decided I didn't completely hate his jump suit ;)
Our little spare tire that's hanging in there with us for now, we had a full size spare, which is always a good thing!
And you wanna see what caused all the damage? Yeah, that tiny little hole right there! The one you can barely even see.. :P
But I am also really happy with how we handled it, we could have been sitting there all upset about it, but it was something we couldn't control so we just enjoyed our time together :P It really helps to have a spouse who you can laugh with, it will make life events like this, go a lot smoother.
Wow. I'm glad that experience wasn't as bad as it could have been.
ReplyDeleteThat is just bizarre!
ReplyDeleteMy dad has been telling me for the longest I should learn how to change a tire ... This post just reminded that maybe I should actually do that ;)
